More Guppy Fry

October 1st, 2007 by Pam B

Another batch today, totally different colour, must have been from one of the new mature females i bought last week, which are yellow bodied, the fry are yellow bodied and not clear or clear/black like normal fry.

I guess one must have been gravid and i didnt notice.

Hatch still in progress

September 30th, 2007 by Pam B

This shot is 24 hours into the hacth, they can take anywhere from 24-36 hours normally. The previous shot was litterally just a few hours in, now look at the heaving mass, hehehehehe

You can see an empty shell caseing from a previous hatch just to the right, this couldnt be removed till these hatched, but both will be removed later in the week.

Some are now out and about, picture below is showing size difference of a tiny new one to some of those hatched last week.

Dont think i have mentioned that i own these as well, I am very honoured that we do get to see these quite alot, they are normally very shy, they do best in a well planted mature tank with smaller or peacefull fish. I am hopeing that we will get these to breed at some point, we have 8 in the Guppy tank, and i am hopeing to get a different species for the Platty tank but havnt chosen which yet.

Another delivery of Fry

September 29th, 2007 by Pam B

Yesterday we had another delivery of Guppy fry, 8 of our homebred males were moved to Jennys tank and i added 6 new mature females to redress the balance somewhat, over the next 2-3 weeks Jenny will be getting all the males to give them a breather, but a start has been made.

Another batch laid this morning,

Welcome

September 27th, 2007 by Pam B

Well first day of my blog and a busy day fish wise.

Today has seen a delivery of fish (in both senses) , the Sunset Plattys i had ordered had multliplyed due to a delivery of fry in transit, happy to report mother and babies doing fine. Also in the delivery were some Corys and a present for Adam of a beautifull Queen Arabesque Plec.

My daughters tank is now ready to receive its first occupants so she is getting all our male Guppys(not all in one go dont worry) to give our girls a much needed breather, and to see what develops from the fry already growing on so we dont end up in a total Guppy pickle.

Well thats all for today, tomorrow will add some further categorys and maybe get some piccys up too, Take Care

Pam
